Newborn natural style photography is so easy to create! Newborn photography at home is a beautiful way to capture those precious and fleeting moments of the first weeks in an authentic way. I find it a very beautiful time that deserves to be photographed. These photographs will be treasured for generations to come. For a successful portrait session, there is nothing better than your home, where the baby feels relaxed and at ease. The living room, the parent’s room, or nursery can be the ideal place for your photos. For optimal light, it is good to be positioned near a window if possible! Choosing a few spots in the home where you like to take care of or feed your baby – bed, sofa, changing table, or a rug on the floor can be a good idea prior to the shoot. There is no need to panic if the home is a bit messy or not perfect – don’t worry this is completely normal! It is easy to move any mess aside and create a nice shot without having to clean the house top to toe! It will feel good for your newborn if the chosen environment is familiar and homely. I like to move around and go with the flow when shooting so feel free to incorporate the whole family, even pets. Lifestyle Newborn Photography at your home is perfect to capture these first raw moments.
This photography style is different from ‘posey’ studio-type shoots, I do not like forcing any moment, and take a more gentle approach on your little one as she won’t be moved from her comfort zone. There is no need for big preparation, it’s best to stay as you are to capture what is real and natural, what matters the most is to portray LOVE! My photography approach won’t change whether you are breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, if the baby sleeps in your arms or is not sleeping and unsettled! I will capture all the love and the care for that new petit person, and make sure you have memories to cherish for life! One of the most common questions I am asked is “which is the best time to take a photograph of my newborn?” Most of the time photographers will recommend you do this in the first 2 weeks following the birth, personally (and as a mother myself) I still think it’s still ok if you have decided to wait a bit longer. Having a newborn can be challenging and tiring at times, you might need a bit of time to settle with your new baby. I advise booking your newborn session during your pregnancy so that you can be sure I am available for you. If you have any questions and would like more information and regarding my newborn photography session don’t hesitate to contact me.
